SCREENING RECAP

The screening was magnifying from the start. With the suspense starting the minute the film began, audiences were engaged. Many scenes caught the attention of audiences, but the main climax, when military forces are trying to stop rebels from crossing the bridge, to the chief being kidnapped, and even the very ending when General Lee ends up in prison, guests had their hands over their mouths from shock, gasps from unexpected scenes, and overall constant wonder and fear for what was to come. The audience by the end had clapped, with two standing ovations for a wonderful and riveting screening experience

Kim Sung Soo (Director)

Kim Sung Soo began describing his experience of that day, saying he was 18 and saw army vehicles driving and out of curiosity, he followed and soon heard gunshots. The soldiers had told him to go home, but instead, he went to his friends to get a better look at what was happening. He was scared and confused, and to this day it is a vivid memory for him and the newspaper only was saying one thing, and not the whole story. Because of this, he knew he needed to create a film.

He discusses those in his generation and how they were at first confused as to why Kim Sun Soo would create a film when they know all the information, but after watching it, they realized there was more to the story. The casting was a critical part, for Chang has no resemblance to the actor, so it required 4 hours of work every single day. The production design was another key part, for everything had to be replicated as accurately as possible from scratch.

The Q&A ended with audience questions who were praising and greatly enjoyed the film. They made it clear they were rooting for Director Kim Sung Soo and that his story is important!
