<Her Story> Dominates China Box Office and Breaks Records

Maxtime Pictures’ <Her Story>, a comedy-drama told from a female perspective, continues to lead the China box office for the third consecutive weekend.


Directed by Shao Yihui (B For Busy), the film earned RMB 90.1 million ($12.7 million) over the weekend, pushing its cumulative total to $76.3 million. The story follows two women navigating personal challenges, including troubled relationships and new romantic possibilities.


Other box office highlights include:

  • Second Place: Burning Stars debuted with $7 million. Directed by Xu Zhanxiong, the action-drama follows students on a daring mission and features an ensemble cast including Roy Wang and Sophie Zhang.

  • Third Place: Disney’s Moana 2 earned $3.6 million, bringing its total to $11 million in China.

  • Fourth Place: Indian Tamil film Maharaja grossed $2.8 million, increasing its total to $7.6 million.

  • Fifth Place: The Last Dance, set for release on December 14, already scored $2 million in advance ticket sales.


China's total box office for the weekend reached $39.8 million, with the year-to-date total standing at $5.74 billion, still 21% below 2023 levels.


With its strong performances and heartfelt storytelling, <Her Story> continues to resonate with audiences across regions, solidifying its position as a standout title in Chinese cinema.
