Old Fox x Soho House West Hollywood Screening and Q&A Recap

– Tuesday, November 14 at 7:00PM PT

Panelists:

Hsiao Ya-Chuan, Director

Moderator:

Jeff Sneider

Jeff began by asking how the film was created. Hsiao said that the inspiration of this movie came from his children questioning him about the fairness of the world. Hsiao stated that so much of life revolves around the choices you make. Jeff then asked what makes this story so universal, to which Hsiao answered, what’s universal about humans is their humanity.

A great part of the Q&A revolved around casting Liao in the film. Hsiao told a funny story about how he thought he would miss out on the chance of working with him due to school, but after a year and a thirty-minute conversation with his parents it worked out. Hsiao said that this movie is centered around family and how much parents sacrifice for their children.

Hsiao finished by saying that if people had to take one thing away from this movie it’s about living in moderation. We don’t have to be like our parents, we can form our own identities.

Overall, a great Q&A with a fantastic crowd, so many people spoke about how they loved the screening.
